Developers Dawoon & Arum Kang are sisters from Seoul, Korea who wanted to create an online dating platform that understood women. The name Coffee Meets Bagel reflects this, with women and men getting up to 21 curated matches per day (bagels). The app was featured on SharkTank and has been a top-performing dating app since.
The app’s curated matches are highly vetted based on your personal characteristics, network, and lifestyle preferences. They also take into account your location, so you’ll likely have more potential matches in a smaller area than on some other apps.
The app has a few premium features like Priority Likes, which are similar to Tinder Super Likes but cost more. These boost your profile’s chance of a bagel “liking” you back by 25%.
Another feature is the app’s Discover section, which allows you to browse profiles on your own. The site uses your Facebook profile to find similar interests & match you with others in your area. However, the Discover section isn’t free.
