According to one of the most intriguing findings of this study, members perceived themselves as being allocentrically oriented toward their communities, which is in line with previous research on expat groupings. This may induce a parent to feel uneasy about revealing sexual behavior that could lead to shame or embarrassment. Practitioners who work with older Latinas should incorporate sexual wellbeing screen in their psychosocial assessments and spread the word about Hiv prevention and assessment in this context.
